"Le Chat and the Thoughts"

(A Nabati Poem of Riddles, Wisdom, and Wonder)

By George Bayer 2025

Oh traveler of visions, have you met Le Chat?

Draped in riddles, cloaked in mirth, yet never where he sat. At first, he greets you festive, bright—A moonlit dance, a star’s delight.

Yet pause and stare, look once, then twice, He bends the world—your sight’s own vice. Is this a whisper, a shadow’s dream? Or a trick of thought, a painted scheme?

He stands with laughter, yet speaks in jest, A puzzle woven, a tricky test. Does he toy with truth, with what you see?

Or guide the mind to set it free?

Oh seeker, tell me if you dare—Is truth a mirror or empty air? Does he deceive, or does he show, The space between the false and known?

He mocks the line ‘twixt words and sight, Turns day to dusk, and noon to night. A jester wise, a sage who plays, A riddle lost in winding maze.

To love Le Chat is to embraceA paradox that shifts its face.Does he speak wisdom or jest too loud? Is he the moon or just the cloud?

Look deeper still—within his gaze, The universe folds in shifting haze. What is real? What is art? Or is the world but pieces, split apart?

Oh wandering soul, be wise, beware—Le Chat still lingers in the air. A riddle left, a thought unspun, A tale that’s told—but never done.
